Foundation Volunteer Opportunities

Service for Sight (once called Sight Conservation and Aid to the Blind) is the philanthropic arm of the Delta Gamma Foundation. Houston Northwest Delta Gamma alumnae have participated in service activities every year since the chapter was chartered in 1978. Our members have been living our motto to “Do Good” by volunteering their time and talents to activities which focus on preserving sight and assistance to persons who have vision impairments. The Golden Anchor program and Joining Forces are two recent initiatives in which we can offer assistance to senior citizens and our brave military members with vision impairments. Hope you join us!

Foundation activities for Fall 2019:

November 16 (Sat.):  “Eye Stroll for Vision” at the Houston Zoo, 6200 Hermann Park Dr., presented by Prevent Blindness Texas. We volunteer by handing out water, gift bags, and helping at the after party. Fun!  6:30-11:00 AM.   Contact Jessica Tegethoff to volunteer.

Activities throughout the year:

  • Collecting books, audio books, magazines, greeting cards, table games, puzzles, 2020 calendars, note pads…to donate to senior living facilities. Bring donations to our chapter events!
  • Donating used eyeglasses/cases for recycling. Bring to chapter events.
  • Collect Campbell’s Labels for Education to donate to DG schools for blind and visually impaired children.  Bring to chapter events or send to Dora Dean 15427 Lakeport Crossing Dr., Cypress, TX 77429.

Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns and willingness to volunteer!
